biography
Teresa (Terri) McWilliams Farina, born in Flint, Michigan, US
Residence: Philadelphia Area, PA
I was born in Flint Michigan and began painting using poster paint when I was about 6 years old. Following graduate school in business management, I pursued a program in fine arts in the Detroit area and obtained an Associate’s degree in Fine Art. I then moved to Northern New England and spent about 15 years taking classes and workshops, painting in watercolor to loosen my style. A few years ago, my husband and I moved to Royersford PA and I began taking classes again in drawing, oil painting and watercolor at Fleischer Art Memorial in Philadelphia and the area. I was fortunate to study with many individuals that are also Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts instructors (see resume). I’ve studied with Paul DuSold in portrait and plein air landscape painting, and completed an independent study in oil painting the summer of 2011with James Dupree at his studios in Philadelphia. Recently I have been exploring oil, watercolor and pastel and experimenting with the combination of these and different supports. I have participated in solo and juried group shows and received awards for paintings in Michigan, Upstate New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. See resume for further information on awards and continuing education.
